Chiswick House

Chiswick House is among the first glorious examples of 18th-century British architecture.

The third Earl of Burlington, who designed this noble Roman-style Palldian villa, drew inspiration from his 'Grand Tours' of Italy. Within the sumptuous interiors, created by William Kent you can explore a rich collection of Old Master paintings which complement the beautiful painted and gilded ceilings, and show the diversity Burlington's collections.

Stepping into the 65 acres of Chiswick House Gardens you'll find a site of international importance: the birthplace of the English landscape movement. Thanks to £12.1 million restoration project, you can now discover the hidden pathways grand vistas and architectural delights of this unique landscape.

Highlights include the refurbishment of the 19th-century conservatory, housing and internationally important collection of camellias. Don't miss the Camellia Show (free entry), held here in February—March, where you can discover Chiswick's glorious camellias in the restored conservatory. Chiswick House will be open on weekends during the Camellia Show. Details of this and other events can be found on www.chgt.org.uk.
